Vancouver Canucks forward Dakota Joshua got diagnosed with testicular cancer over the summer. The 28-year-old in a recent statement revealed that the cancerous threat has been removed through surgery and he is currently in the process of healing.

Recovering from such a serious surgery will undoubtedly take time, and fans are hoping Joshua to focus on his health and get back on the ice with 100% condition. The forward himself noted that he may rejoin the team sometime within the 2024-25 season, but is currently unsure of the timeline.

Dakota Joshua won’t be joining the Canucks training camp this Thursday. In the statement, he expressed how scary it was to get diagnosed with testicular cancer and advised men to check for these medical issues with doctors.

This summer, I felt a lump on one of my testicles that doctors would later diagnose as testicular cancer. This news was obviously scary to hear, but thankfully, doctors were able to successfully remove the tumor.

He further thanked his family, friends, teammates, and doctors to help and encourage him during this whole process. Currently focus will solely remain on healing and later he will start rehab and join the team for future games.

Fans react after hearing Dakota Joshua’s statement on social media

Canucks forward Dakota Joshua said that it was “very  difficult to face the reality of this specific type of cancer”, but encourages men to get medically checked to avoid such circumstances. He noted that further updates regarding his health and joining will be provided by the team.

Fans on social media were shocked to find out about his medical condition. They are wishing the forward for a speedy recovery. On the statement post on X, Ottawa Senators posted “♥”, while several others encouraged Joshua to stay strong and be healthy.

On June 27, Joshua signed a 4-year $13 million contract with an AAV of $3.25 million. Last season he recorded 32 points with 18 goals and 14 assists in 63 regular-season games. During the playoffs, he scored 4 goals, and 4 assists in 13 Stanley Cup games.
