In 2002 Homestead Miami got the opportunity to host the NASCAR season finale and till 2019, the track remained the venue before losing the date to Phoenix. It has hosted some of the best season finale ever in the sports history, and fans has been seeking for the return to Miami ever since as the race at Phoenix hasn’t matched the expectations.

But fans are in for a shock for the upcoming 2025 season as reports suggests that Miami will lose its playoff date as well next year. But according to Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. the changes are happening for a good reason as NASCAR is giving other tracks an opportunity to host playoff races so they can experience it as well.

If it ends up being the finale, I’m okay with them sticking it in March or somewhere for a year. Maybe that’s sort of the tradeoff. They want to give some of these other tracks a little bit of an experience of what it’s like being in the playoffs, and Homestead you’re going to be the finale.

Though Miami will get an unfavourable race date, it won’t last long as they would be back as the season finale venue. But the fans have to wait till NASCAR ends entertaining other tracks.

So, we’re going to stick you over here in March, not a favorable date for you, probably not your favorite time of the year to be racing in the NASCAR series. But you’re going to get back to the finale, go sit over here for a bit while we entertain these other tracks in the playoffs.

I’m disappointed about Homestead leaving the playoffs. We ran Homestead years ago early in the season and it was weird. After having the season finale there for so, so long, it just doesn’t feel right to put it anywhere else in the season. Kind of was fun to have it in the playoffs again.

Junior seems disappointed but hopeful at the same time about the future Homestead, which is his favourite track for many reasons. It would be interesting to see how the future will playout for the track and the passionate fans it has.
