Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson proved why he is considered as one of the best racers in the garage, winning the race with impressive domination. In the meantime, some comments he made ahead of the race, has come back to bit them in the form Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. He was called out alongside 2023 Cup winner Ryan Blaney.
Kyle Larson and Ryan Blaney, when asked about the growing criticism towards the racing being dull in non-intermediate tracks from the media had a lapse of judgement. They thought the criticism was aimed at the drivers being dominant. In his podcast, Dale Jr. Download, Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted that the comments from the duo was wrong.
Somebody said to Larson, ‘Are you looking forward to coming to Kansas after the last several weeks?’ You know, after how the race has been kind of ho-hum. He’s like, him and a couple of other drivers, Blaney included, were like, ‘Well, if a guy kicks ass, it doesn’t mean it’s a bad race.’ Nobody’s complaining about ass kicking.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
The Junior Motorsports co-owner reminded the duo that there have never been complaints about some drivers being dominant. So, the two times Xfinity Series Champion was surprised how the Cup championship winners felt this topic was being discussed and made such comments, that was out of its place.
Nobody ever complained about Larson or anyone else kicking ass and just kicking pure ass all day long. Nobody complained about that. I don’t know where Larson and Blaney are going with that comment, because nobody complained about the ass kicking.
Dale Earnhardt added.
He then explained what the fans concerns are regarding racing. Junior pointed out that the supporters have the same complaints as the drivers, which is about the racing being not up to the mark on short tracks as well as in dirty air.
What we complained about are the things that the drivers were complaining about, and had been complaining about. The car doesn’t race well on short tracks. The car is difficult in dirty air. It’s amazing at the mile-and-a-halves, and so we’re excited to go to Kansas and Charlotte and all the mile-and-a-halves, because it’s good there, but it doesn’t race well in some other areas.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. asserted.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. tells Kyle Larson no-one is complaining about his dominance
The Hall of Famer then addressed the 2021 Cup Series champion and told him that the true fans of the sport love him when he is dominant on the track. The pure race fans don’t care about which drivers are winning, they are concerned about how they are securing those important Cup Series race trophies.

Nobody was ever really complaining that somebody’s kicking too much ass. Larson’s been insane this year, and if he continues to be, I think that, you know, the purest and the fans who truly enjoy the sport will appreciate a good ass kicking.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
The arguments from the Hendrick Motorsports legend seems to be on point and something that fans would rally behind. It would be interesting to see if Kyle Larson or Ryan Blaney would respond to the comments from the sport’s most famous driver ever.
