NASCAR hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. marked his return to the Cup Series as an owner for the 2025 Daytona 500. His Xfinity Series team JR Motorsports fielded the No:40 Chevy for Justin Allgaier, with the technical support from Hendrick Motorsports. The weekend so far has been an emotional roller coaster for them.
Justin Allgaier failed to secure a starting spot after failing to finish as one of the best two open cars in the qualifying, to the disappointment of Dale Earnhardt Jr. But he bounced back in the Duel 1, taking advantage of a big clash. Junior was a proud owner and over the moon after Allgaier finished as the best open car, as the former almost gave up on hope at the end.
First off, I’m so proud of Justin, man. He put the whole team on his back those last couple of laps. He got to the top, and I did not think that was possible, but he got up there and made something work. It was his only shot and he got some help. So, we got some people to thank. Just a great race car.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Motorsports.com.
Further talking about the point, he asserted that he loves the chaos and challenges the Cup Series brings to the sport. He then admitted that the whole event was emotionally hard for him and added that he can’t believe his team will start the Daytona 500.
But I’ll tell you, this sport is amazing — everything about it. I’ve seen it from so many different lenses and I love the challenges. I wouldn’t want it any other way…This was hard, emotionally. I can’t believe we got to race on Sunday. I just can’t believe it.

Justin Allgaier explains how nervous Dale Earnhardt Jr. was before the race
The reigning Xfinity Series champion Justin Allgaier in the same post-race media session shared how Junior was acting before the race as he was nervous. He pointed out that his boss was shaking and quivering before the event.

This guy right here [Earnhardt Jr.] — we get to race on Sunday. His lip was quivering and his hands were shaking before the race. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that out of Dale Jr. He told me before the race, he said, ‘I’m nervous. I don’t want to make you nervous, but I’m really nervous.’
Justin Allgaier said.
The comments from Justin Allgaier shows why Junior was overjoyed with after the No:40 car made into the next round. It would be interesting to see how JRM’s NASCAR Cup debut at one of the toughest races of the season is going to playout.
