The 2025 NASCAR season start with usual chaos at the Daytona International Speedway and the racing community seems to be getting more frustrated with the chaos. In the words of Denny Hamlin, the art of superspeedway racing is gone, and the current generation of drivers are more into over aggressive racing.
Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. shared his feelings about the whole drama and admitted that all four series have poor racing in all three Superspeedways. He highlighted that the extra drag that was put into the cars had made it hard to pass properly on the car and this factor is making racing more aggressive, as they have limited choices.
The issue that I have with the current product at Daytona and Talladega and Atlanta is that all of the series, no matter what series — ARCA, Trucks, Xfinity, or Cup, they all suffer from this. We have choked everything down and put so much drag on the bodies that they can’t get away from each other.

Further talking about the point, Junior pointed out that regardless of having a better car or more experience, the cars being too draggy makes it hard to pass on the track. So, for over a decade, drivers are wrecking more by getting caught up in unnecessary situation.
A good car can’t drive away from a bad car. An experienced driver can’t distance himself from a [driver] who doesn’t have the experience… The cars are so draggy [now] and the engines are so stifled that everybody’s all over the top of each other. That just leads to some of the silliest crashes, that are just so unnecessary. This has been going on for a long time, over a decade.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. explains how to fix the issue
The JR Motorsports co-owner further explained what needs to happen to fix the issue with superspeedway racing. He pointed out that NASCAR has reimagine the drag-to-power ratio of the cars, make tweaks that affect how the cars work with each other, which cane make racing smooth and less chaotic.

It’s really simple. It’s not hard. We don’t need to blow it up. We just need to get in a room and reimagine the drag-to-power ratio. How the cars react to each other, and around each other. We need to figure out a way to allow the car — we’ve got to change the drag-to-power ratio to where the delta between what a car can do by itself on the racetrack versus in the pack isn’t such a big range.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
NASCAR has to step up and solve the issues, as having races like demolition derby is not good for the sport in the long-term. The drivers also have to review their action on the track and work on racing cleaner, as they are equally responsible for the final product from each event.
