Short track racing has been the bread and butter for NASCAR for decades and though the races aren’t as entertaining as it used to be, these tracks still remain the crowd puller for the sport. The Next-Gen era has been a huge challenge for the sport, as the package doesn’t match short tracks with the racing being more predictable than ever.
Because of the lack entertaining events on such tracks, NASCAR has been replacing them with road course and Superspeedway events angering the fans and drivers. This can easily be fixed with some updates to the Next-Gen package or tiers and Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. wants to see this happened. He urges the sport to make soft tier the primary tier to make racing better.
They’re working on a short track package. If Denny Hamlin said, ‘Hey, let’s just run this red tire everywhere.’ I think Denny’s right. … Oh yeah, the tire for the short track stuff is where the answer is, where the biggest gains will be made. I like Denny’s idea of trying to soft tire everywhere but I almost want to see them try the soft tire as the primary, the prime.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said via Dale Jr. Download.
He went on to further suggests that NASCAR should try to go for another giant softer tier. Junior asserted that having a tier that probably wear out in 10 laps would change the whole game in the sport and would make it more competitive.
So, the soft tire should be the main tire and they should try to even go another giant step softer. … But it’d probably wear out in 10 laps and not be worth a s**t. To Denny’s point let’s just run that red tire everywhere. At Phoenix, come on.Dale Earnhardt Jr. added.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives his verdict on recent NASCAR broadcast debate
At the Michigan race week NASCAR made a controversial decision to postpone the race to Mondy due to heavy rain. The fans weren’t really happy about the call as there was a window to have the race on Sunday. Dale Jr. gave his verdict on the debate and asserted that the broadcasters have the power to dictate such things.
The start times are predicted by and chosen by networks and they influence that mostly. They know what the hell they’re doing. They want to put this race where they feel like it’ll get the best number. That’s as simple as it is… The networks pay enough money to have the right and authority over NASCAR when to put the race on.Dale Earnhardt Jr. said.
Junior has a valid point as the broadcasters has to do what best for themselves to make sure they get the best rating and most views out of the show. There is so much the fans and the community complaint about it considering the huge deal NASCAR has with broadcasters.
