The Chicago Bears will host the Dallas Cowboys at Soldier Field, aiming to secure their first win of the Ben Johnson era. This will be their 29th meeting in the NFL.
Caleb Williams doesn’t have fond memories of the Bears’ week two defeat to divisional rivals, the Detroit Lions. It was Johnson’s first game against his former employers, where he served as the offensive coordinator. The Lions ran out 52-21 winners.
Chicago’s offense showed promise in the first half but fizzled out in the second, allowing the Lions to record a blowout win. However, the defense generated the biggest talking point in the tie by conceding 511 overall yards and 5 touchdowns from Jared Goff.
The Cowboys, on the other hand, defeated NFC East opposition, the New York Giants, 40-37, to go 1-1 for the year. It was a much closer affair compared to the Bears game. Kicker Brandon Aubrey saved the game by dispatching a field goal in the final moments of regular time to force overtime. Aubrey then hit the game-winning kick in OT.
The Cowboys currently lead the series 16-12. In the last fixture (2022), the Cowboys secured a 49-29 victory with Dak Prescott throwing 250 yards, 2 touchdowns, and one pick.

Why can the Cowboys win?
The Cowboys lost their first game against the Philadelphia Eagles, with Prescott completing 188 yards and zero touchdowns. He improved dramatically against the Giants, going 361 yards (73.1% completion rate), 2 TDs, and one pick.
Lamb dropped four passes in week one but still logged 100+ yards and added another 100 against the Giants. The Cowboys are currently averaging 392.5 offensive yards and are the fifth-best scoring offense with 6 TDs.
Why can the Bears win?
The Bears’ offense looked decent in the first half but fell flat in the second. However, it’s the penalties that handicapped the NFC North franchise in week two. Johnson must make sure that his team reduces the number of flags thrown against them.
