The NBA All-Star event was in full flow on Sunday with stars from all over the league present, either on the court or in the crowd. Notably, the NBA had a new format for this year’s All-Stars, which had young, upcoming players like Dalton Knecht also take part in the event. Something that was never done before. However, NBA veteran Draymond Green did not approve of this.

In addition, Green’s criticism of the Rising Stars team following their participation in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game Tournament was perfectly addressed by Dalton Knecht. The rookie for the Los Angeles Lakers played for Candace Parker‘s Rising Stars team. He responded in 4-5 words regarding questions about Green’s remarks.

This particular response from Knecht was loved by the NBA community, with fans taking to social media to laud the Lakers rookie. On the other hand, Green’s annoyance appeared to stem from the belief that merit and years of consistency, not winning a showcase game, should be the cause for earning a position in the All-Star Game. Knecht and the Rising Stars, however, soon showed their suitability for the court.

The Rising Stars fought hard against a seasoned squad. A team that included players like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard, and Jaylen Brown. Even though they lost 42-35 to Shaq’s originals, with eight points and two rebounds on 3-for-6 shooting, Knecht led his team. Also, he displayed exceptional three-point shooting and scoring skills that have made him a rising star in the league.

The NBA All-Stars were a blessing for young players as they had numerous opportunities in this year’s event, unlike the previous ones. One of them who stood out was Lakers’ rookie, Dalton Knecht.  Knecht suggested on Sunday night that he would like to take part in an iconic NBA contest in 2026, (if was invited).

This was about the iconic 3-point shooting contest. Notably, Knecht was not part of this year’s shooting contest. After the event, Dalton Knecht told the reporters, “I didn’t get invited.” Knecht then suggested that he would participate in the three-point competition in 2026 when Los Angeles will host the NBA All-Star game. He said, “Next year in LA.”

Given that Knecht’s status on the Lakers’ roster for the upcoming season is questionable. Earlier this month, the Lakers tried to trade Knecht to the Charlotte Hornets. However, the transaction was canceled because of Hornets center Mark Williams‘ health issues.
