Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum get another victory for the Portland Trail Blazers as they overcome LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ led Los Angeles Lakers 115-107. CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard combined to score 51 points whereas LeBron James and Anthony Davis struggled at 42. More than Anthony Davis, Dennis Schroder impressed on the offensive end scoring 24 points.

The Los Angeles Lakers struggled in the second half, which is where one would suggest they lost the game. Anthony Davis scored a double-double with 13 point and 10 rebounds. Whereas LeBron fell one rebound short of a double score with 29 points. This the Lakers’ second loss in 4 games. One of the strongest contenders of the championship surely need to pull up their socks after such close games.

The Trail Blazers were knocked out by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs last season. Given that they have a deeper bench strength as compared to last season, Lakers would feel they have let this game slip of their grip. As the game was so close during the entire course of 4 quarters, Lakers let themselves loose in the last quarter. However, these are early days in the season, where every team focuses on line-ups and gameplays more than points.

Having said that, the Trail Blazers would be proud of their marquee duo and in particularly Gart Trench Jr. Who came off the bench to score 28 points which proved to be the difference? Talking about the bench strength, the Lakers bench was not able to deliver at maximum power, be it Kyle Kuzma or Montrezl Harrell. But as the season goes on, the Los Angeles Lakers are surely one significant force to focus on.
