One of the biggest motivators for any kid training in basketball to be a pro is the possibility of a signature shoe line. When Michael Jordan revolutionized the sneaker industry with the Jordan 1 shoes, they were priced at $65. While still a steep price at the time, current sneaker prices make it seem routine. But former Trail Blazers and Bucks star Damian Lillard is now making a move to reverse this worrying price trend.
Despite tearing his Achilles and missing essentially all of 2025-26, Lillard will receive his 10th signature shoe from Adidas this year. His Adidas Dame shoe line is typically priced between $110-$130 at the time of release. In addition, he also has a low-cost line called the Adidas Dame Certified line which retails between $60-$100. Damian Lillard has now decided to get the price of his main shoe line lowered for his 10th release.
The free agent revealed his pricing plans for the upcoming Dame 10 shoes with a tweet. He also posted an image of himself working out in a light green colorway of his shoes:
Getting to 10 signature models means a lot, but I wanted to use this 10th shoe to make a real statement and bring the price down under $100. I’ve had my secondary Dame Certified line priced under $100 for a few years now, but I wanted to go all in on it for my primary shoe…

He also explained why he wanted the price drop in particular for his 10th shoe thus:
Having a quality shoe under $100 – I’ll say that’s the number one thing for me as I’ve gotten older and wanting to have an impact in the community. Making my shoe accessible to people that come from a background like me… that means a lot to me.
The adidas Dame X will retail for $95 which was a significant detail Damian Lillard was proud of with his new signature shoe 👏

Lillard grew up poor in Oakland and has built memories by going to Oracle Arena and watching the Warriors on $3 tickets from the nosebleeds as a child. He acutely understands how poor kids who want to have nice things would be overjoyed at the price drop.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ split from Damian Lillard may have a sinister reason
After the initial news about the Bucks waiving Damian Lillard and stretching his contract broke, many people assumed that it was a good faith gesture by the team to help him rehab on his own terms and find a new team. However, new insights suggest that may not be the case. Chris Haynes alleged that the Bucks’ split with Lillard was actually acrimonious:

I was informed that Aaron Goodwin – Damian Lillard’s agent – about a month ago, reached out to the Bucks and informed them that Dame would like to rehab back home in Portland. Stay with his kids, rehab back in Portland. I was told that some people within the Bucks did not approve of that. And so there was kind of some back and forth there.
People within the Bucks organization did not approve Damian Lillard’s request to return home to Portland to be with his kids while he rehabs his Achilles injury, per @ChrisBHaynes

This lends credence to why Giannis Antetokounmpo was irate with his front office. And it looks like he was right to do so.
