Clash at the Castle PLE saw Damian Priest retain his title against Scotland’s own Drew McIntyre. Although the match was intense throughout, one moment scared the WWE Universe. When Priest attempted a middle-rope springboard move, his leg got caught up in the ropes, nearly resulting in a disastrous injury.
Now as per an update, he was doing just fine and was even effectively selling the moves during the match. Damian Preist received a lot of praise from the people backstage for his determination to complete the match. Moreover, fans who trolled him for not knowing how to wrestle respected him more.
Speaking of the match, he should thank a certain someone hell-bent on seeking revenge from The Scottish Warrior. That someone was none other than CM Punk, who came disguised as a referee and refused to count to three when Drew McIntyre was on the verge of winning. That distraction was enough for El Campeon to execute the South of Heaven and secure the victory.
Unfortunately, he has no time to rest, as many superstars are eager to take the title away from him. One of those superstars is Gunther, who won the King of the Ring tournament by controversially defeating Randy Orton in Saudi Arabia. It will be intriguing to see who will step up next as his challenger for the title.
Damian Priest shared his thoughts on his potential matchup with Gunther at SummerSlam
After an emphatic win at Clash at the Castle, The Archer of Infamy will now look forward to his next and more dangerous challenger. Gunther earned a title shot against him at SummerSlam by becoming the King of the Ring. He expressed his honest opinion about his match against The Ring General in the post-show press conference.
When the 41-year-old star was asked about his battle against “The Ring General,” he had nothing but praise and respect for him. He admired his wrestling style and was also impressed by his historic Intercontinental title reign. Although Priest admitted that he knew the threat the Imperium leader possessed, he couldn’t wait to prove everybody wrong once again.
Look we all know how good he is in the ring. He's I.C. Title run I mean was historic. I get it, I get the challenge he's gonna be. But again, please tell me I can't beat him... please tell me I can't beat Gunther. Because I can't wait to shove that down everybody's throats as well.Damian Priest on Gunther in press conference
Many fans have doubted him throughout his title reign and still feel the same way—that he can’t beat Gunther. Nonetheless, Priest has established himself as a main-event superstar through his hard work and is now reaping the benefits.
