CM Punk played an important role in Damian Priest's win against Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle.

Although Damian Preist successfully defeated Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle, a lot of its credit goes to CM Punk. Many fans predicted that The Best in the World would screw his arch-rival once again, and that’s exactly what ended up happening. The Archer of Infamy expressed his honest opinion about the whole incident which led to him being victorious.
During the post-show press conference, Damian Priest was asked about his thoughts on CM Punk interfering in his match. The world champion denied having any part to play in this and said he didn’t even know he was there. He admired him saying he was a huge star and even expressed his desire to be in the ring with him once he gets cleared. However, Priest also said that The Second City Saint had to earn his way to the title shot.
Talking about the heated rivalry that has going on for months, it looks like Punk got the last laugh. Although the match was hanging in the balance, CM Punk soon disguised himself as a referee, distracted him, and attacked him. Unfortunately for The Scottish Warrior, that was all the time Priest needed to win the match with South of Heaven.
He’s a huge star. We all know his accolades. We all know his resume. So when he’s back healthy if he can perform still at that high level and he earns his way, I would love to share that ring with him, but he’s gonna have to earn it because I am the World Champion.Damian Priest on CM Punk in press conference
After the heartbreaking loss, McIntyre lost control and wreaked havoc around the ringside area. He even attacked the commentator, Corey Graves, and the absent referee. Next week’s episode of Raw will be a must-watch, as fans are eagerly waiting to hear what the former world champion has to say about it.
Drew McIntyre still holds a grudge against The Bloodline
Wrestling at Clash at the Castle PLE was a truly traumatizing experience for Drew McIntyre. First, he lost the world title match against Roman Reigns two years ago due to a distraction. Although the same thing happened to him again just a few days ago, it seems like he still hasn’t forgotten his hatred for The Bloodline.
While speaking to Corey Brennan of Fightful, The Scottish Warrior talked about his storied rivalry with the dominant faction. He stated that punishing them was the goal he had in mind for a very long time. However, the 39-year-old star also admitted that his focus right now was fully on winning the world title in Scotland. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be.
Yeah. That is actually my goal. There have been situations where it’s been very difficult. I had people in my business and I want to just jump on them and rip their heads off. I have to focus on the task at hand and focus on what’s important. I have to focus on what’s best for business and what’s best for meDrew McIntyre on The Bloodline via Fightful
Similar to the match against Priest, the match between him and The Tribal Chief was even more unfair to him. Just as the WWE Universe thought the hometown hero had won the match, Solo Sikoa made his debut and prevented him from winning. Reigns took advantage of the distraction and secured the win with a Spear.
