Damir Dzumhur caught the attention of social media more than once. Earlier on, he had a painful fall in the fourth set of his Roland Garros second round against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
However, the social media erupted once again when Dzumhur completed the match. Rather than having some kind of a celebration, Dzumhur sensationally forgot that he had won the match before running over to receive congratulations from his opponent.

Dzumhur quickly apologized to the crowd and gave a surprising reaction to his team. This is not the first time that such a situation has happened as players have the tendency to forget the scorelines, even on match point.
In 2014, Roger Federer forgot that he completed a match in Halle against Kei Nishikori. After realizing what had happened, he raised both his hands as an apology before rushing to the net to get congratulated by his opponent.
Damir Dzumhur overcomes injury problem at Roland Garros
Former World No.23 Damir Dzumhur overcame a scary moment in his Roland Garros match against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard to claim a four-set victory. He won 7-6(4), 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 to advance, despite suffering a painful fall during the fourth set. The incident raised doubts about whether he could finish the match.

Dzumhur had been in control, leading by two sets and 4-2 in the third. However, Mpetshi Perricard mounted a strong comeback, winning five games in a row and taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth set. As Dzumhur attempted to recover court position during a rally, he tripped and fell, clutching his left knee in clear discomfort.
Medical staff came to his aid as he remained seated and in visible pain. Mpetshi Perricard looked concerned as treatment was given. There was uncertainty about whether Dzumhur would be able to continue, given the nature of the fall and the pressure of the moment.
Despite the injury, Dzumhur got back on his feet and resumed play. He managed to hold serve and then break Mpetshi Perricard for a third time in the match. With that momentum, he closed out the set and secured the win, quieting the French crowd on Court Suzanne-Lenglen.
Damir Dzumhur set to play Carlos Alcaraz
The 33-year-old Damir Dzumhur is set to take on second seed Carlos Alcaraz in the next round at Roland Garros. This will be their first official ATP Head2Head meeting. However, the two have faced each other before at the Challenger level.

Their previous encounter came in October 2020 during the final of a Challenger event in Barcelona. A then 17-year-old Alcaraz came from a set down to defeat Dzumhur in three sets and lift the title. That match marked an early highlight in Alcaraz’s rise through the ranks.
Alcaraz enters the match as the defending Roland Garros champion, having beaten Alexander Zverev in last year’s final. He has reached the third round this year after dropping just one set to Fabian Marozsan.
The Spaniard is currently riding a nine-match win streak at Roland Garros. He is also aiming for a fourth straight final on clay this season, after reaching the championship matches in Monte Carlo, Barcelona, and the Italian Open.
