Petar Popovic, coach of tennis player Damir Dzumhur yet again criticized the French Open by calling it a catastrophic organization. Popovic has been critcising the French Open organization ever since he had tested positive for the Coronavirus which led to Damir Dzumhur being denied a chance to play at the French Open 2020.

Dzumhur’s coach, Popovic believes that the test result was not always precise and demanded a second test in case of any error. The French Open organization did not pay any attention to the request which enraged Popovic. Popovic claimed that the organizing committee had a biased attitude because players like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic would have surely been tested 2 or more times to confirm the COVID test.

Dzumhur also expressed his frustration and claimed that since the test was not always precise, his coach should be tested again to confirm the result.

Damir Dzumhur threatens to take legal action against French Open

Damir Dzumhur has threatened to take legal action against French Open organizers. He said that if his coach, Petar Popovic tested negative for the virus in the second test he would file a legal complaint. Dzumhur was agitated and frustrated at the treatment he received from the tournament organizers and believed that legal action was the last option remaining.

Petar Popovic said, “Our lawyers are very confident. They have agreed to be paid only the percentage of damages that we will receive. It (French Open) is a catastrophic organization. They are using draconian measures to hide something, even Djokovic, Coric, and Dimitrov (infected with COVID in June) may appear positive one day. But they weren’t even tested at the US Open. Djokovic was in his house, he was not tested because he had proof that he had antibodies.”

Damir Dzumhur and his coach, Petar Popovic are clearly frustrated with the treatment received from the French Open organizing committee and are willing to take legal action against the tournament.

If the allegations are true, then it will hamper the reputation of the French Open even more after it has already been criticized earlier for their mismanagement in the setting the limit for fans to be present at the stadium.
