Acclaimed comedian Damon Wayans and NBA legend Michael Jordan were neighbours at some point in their lives. With that in mind, Shannon Sharpe inquired about the former’s take on the basketballer’s son’s DUI arrest. However, the podcaster was left stunned at the actor’s unexpectedly amusing response.
Damon Wayans took the seat at the Club Shay Shay podcast to answer Shannon Sharpe’s curious questions with classic one-liners. In one of the segments, he asked his guest about his parenting approach in a situation like that of Michael Jordan.
Elaborating, he narrowed it down to the NBA star’s son’s recent arrest on the charges of possession of illegal substances. However severe that may have played out, Wayans took the moment to hilariously confess that he was the one to arrange the said substances for Jordan’s son.
The out-of-the-blue comment left everybody in the room in splits, much to the 64-year-old comedian’s forte. “I gave him the drug,” Damon Wayans blurted on Michael Jordan’s son’s arrest due to cocaine possession.
Sharpe circled back on the question and asked Wayne about his reaction in the hypothetical situation involving his children. The Blankman headliner once again left the room in stitches with his unconventional tactic.
He recalled a spam caller from the same morning and shared how they tried blackmailing him with “expletive images” found in one of his children’s phones. He confessed that his immediate thought was to include the incident in his script, going so far as to ask the caller for his child’s identity.

Damon Wayans had a lenient approach, much different from what he had in his own childhood. However, the actual incident with Michael Jordan’s son was much messier and controversial. Back in February, Marcus Jordan was arrested in central Florida in possession of cocaine. To add to the charges, he was taken due to misconduct with the officials after he resisted arrest. The incident made several headlines, bringing negative light on the NBA veteran.
Damon Wayans opens up about being Michael Jordan’s neighbor
Back in the 90s, the Wayans and Jordans were next door neighbours and more than that, good friends. With the amount of time the two spent together, the former had plenty of stories to recall about his former partner in residence.
Not only that, the two became work buddies while they shot CBS sitcom Poppa’s House. In a conversation with media outlet People, Damon Wayans and his son went down memory lane and relived those moments. Making a wholehearted confession, he shared how incredible it was to share an amount of space with the NBA star.

Besides him, Wayans’ friends also thought so, considering they often visited his house in pursuit of Jordan. Much to their dismay, the comedian put a restriction on their involvement, making sure Jordan was not bothered. During his tenure, which lasted the full summer, he recalled that he only visited his house once upon invitation. Michael Jordan, for another, was a different story.
The former Chicago Bulls player was a recurring presence in Damon Wayans’ house. Commenting on that, he also quipped Jordan often emptied their snack drawers. In his defense, Wayans Jr insisted his father’s snack pick was out of this world. While he was only 12 or 13 when Michael Jordan lived next door, he jested that his presence was almost ‘too much’.
