Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has fervently rejected the latest report from Adam Schefter with regards to the Lions’ defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. Schefter, in a recent report, had claimed that the Lions management has asked the NFL organizers to intervene and bring action to the intensive hits on Hutchinson, who has returned to the field after an early-season exit last year.
The Lions, who are 4-1 on the season with a lone loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, were hit with the rumor when Schefter brought the guns blazing ahead of their clash against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3.
The report mentioned that the Detroit management was concerned with how the Packers and Chicago Bears hit low on Hutchinson in the first two weeks of the season. On Wednesday, the matter was brought before the Lions’ head coach. Campbell instantly shot down the existence of such a claim.
That’s bogus. That’s a bogus report. I don’t know where that came from. Nobody from here ever did that. That’s bull.
He added that he hadn’t sensed any changes afterwards either. He admitted that the game’s played a certain way and it has been the same since as well.
No. No, man. Nope. Game’s played a certain way, that’s the way it goes, man. It doesn’t matter whether we’re doing it or someone else is doing it to our guys. We know that and we play accordingly.
Aidan Hutchinson has been an integral part of the Lions’ success this season so far. Coming off a tibia and fibula fracture that ended his season way too early last year, Hutchinson has picked off from where he left after that Week 1 loss. He is tied for second in sacks and leads the league in pressures.
In the press availability, Campbell also took time to praise Aidan Hutchinson for his efforts and talents, calling him a “complete player.” He added that he considered the edge rusher to be explosive, disruptive, violent, and competitive.
The Detroit Lions face a mighty opponent in the coming week
The Detroit Lions (4-1) will have a tough battle in the coming week. They are locking horns with the Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII champions Kansas City Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium in the Sunday Night game this week.

The Chiefs, who are yet to have a winning record this season, despite their poor start are a troublesome opponent. They have been in the same boat only once before in the Patrick Mahomes era. It was in 2021 and they had bounced back from three losses in the first five games to losing only twice more and finishing with a 12-5 record. They were ultimately defeated at the AFC Championship game by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chiefs have been offensively slow this season; their best offensive performance was against the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. But it wasn’t enough to secure them a win. They are desperate for a win, especially with their fading grasp on making big plays in the final clutch moments.
Aidan Hutchinson is set to be one of the biggest disruptors of anything the Kansas City Chiefs might be planning to do. He is expected to battle Jawaan Taylor and Josh Simmons on both sides. The defensive edge might be planning to capitalize on the inconsistencies and penalties when it comes to Taylor.
The Chiefs might bring big guns and double-team, and chip block Hutchinson. On the flip side, Hutchinson will look to translate the pressures to sacks and destroy any semblance of confidence they have.
