“It’s going to be a great atmosphere, great to come out and play Roger. Always good to play someone as good as him and see where my skills are.”

It was probably more out of boredom: Evans on Federer watching him play

The Swiss maestro was spotted in the stands during Evans’ first round match. To the same, Evans had reserved thoughts.

“He’s obviously seen a lot of my game the last few weeks so it was probably more out of boredom rather than scouting out what’s on the court.”

Evans also recalled the days of his practice with Federer. He went on to say that the 20-time grand slam champion’s level is higher than most players on tour.

“It’s been normal. Two blokes having a practice. It’s obvious to say he works hard. Some days we practised three hours, other days an hour and a half, it’s been like most tennis players really. Obviously the level is a lot higher than most.”
