One of the biggest support Matthew Stafford had throughout his NFL career, especially his struggle with injuries has been his former teammate, Dan Orlovsky. The former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst has never been stingy with his flatters for the Los Angeles Rams quarterback.
Orlovoky served as Stafford’s backup in 2015 at Detriot Lions and the two became friends since then, despite the age difference of four years. As the analyst saw Stafford’s ability to perform at an elite level, he knew the quarterback deserved to be inducted into the future Hall of Fame. He continues to stand by his opinion, which he proved in a recent social media post.
Shortly after Tom Brady made headlines for being inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, fans initiated a debate on which veteran quarterback deserves the honor next– particularly between Russell Wilson and Stafford.
Surprisingly, the post caught the attention of the ESPN analyst, and he engaged with the X post with a blunt caption in regard to how the question between Wilson and Stafford isn’t even close to the Hall of Famer conversation.
Stafford and it isn’t close.

Regardless of Orlovsky’s case for Stafford in the Hall of Fame, his average quarterback rating is 79.01 which is around 20 points lower than the average points required for Hall of Fame. However, Wilson has 100.0 QBR and was also unanimously voted into by fifty executives and coaches, for the NFL’s top-tier quarterbacks, in 2020.
Steelers’ quarterback room transformation with Russell Wilson
Due to a restrained relationship with his former head coach Sean Payton in the Denver Broncos, veteran quarterback Wilson landed in the Pittsburgh Steelers– who reportedly changed their entire quarterback room for the upcoming seasons.
With that, competition for the starter job begins amongst the quarterbacks. However, based on a recent report by The Athletic, Justin Fields has been placed behind Wilson on the Steelers’ depth chart.
The nine-time Pro Bowler was acquired by the Steelers earlier this season in a one-year deal, which caused the departure of Kenny Pickett and the further induction of Fields as a backup.
