Shedeur Sanders is one of the most intriguing prospects heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Colorado quarterback recently worked out for NFL scouts during the school’s pro day on Friday.
The New York Giants, who hold the No. 3 overall pick, raised eyebrows with their heavy presence at the event.
Multiple teams are looking for a quarterback, including the New York Giants, who have had one of the most abysmal years in recent history. Although the draft class has been questioned for its stock value, they are the only option for some teams to turn to at this moment.
The Giants seemed to have gotten the reality check from the Daniel Jones drama and Saquon Barkley going ballistic in his Eagle’s debut, sending almost their whole team to assess the quarterback.
One reason for the attention is the difficulty in evaluating Shedeur Sanders based on his college tape. Despite his clear talent, analysts are struggling to get a full picture of his quarterbacking skills. Much of that has to do with how Colorado’s offense operated and the challenges it presented. Analysts are forced to sift through a lot of unusable footage to get real insight into his game.
ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky recently discussed this challenge on Get Up, highlighting the unique situation.
He’s the hardest quarterback I’ve had to evaluate since I’ve gotten into TV. Because 75% of his snaps don’t matter, Greeny… Half the snaps were thrown inside of five yards.

Orlovsky emphasized that NFL teams won’t be drafting Sanders for those types of short throws. The teams need someone who can deliver long throws without the help of elite catchers while deep runs as well.
Orlovsky added that poor offensive line play ruined another chunk of the tape. However, he did praise Shedeur Sanders for his rhythm, timing, and ball placement. Furthermore, he claimed that he believes Sanders will succeed in the NFL.
Twenty-five percent of the snaps the offensive line protection is so terrible… you’re not doing anything. He’s got elite field vision… reminds me of Tua.

Joel Klatt feels that Shedeur Sanders should go into the top five or six
Shedeur Sanders has been fluctuating with the draft position from being a strong second selection after Cam Ward to dropping to later stages of the top ten and eventually the first round. He also found himself being ejected from the first round into the early second day of drafting.

As his draft stocks keep dancing, more analysts and more people have started weighing in to weigh on Shedeur Sanders and his potential projection.
I think that Shedeur is an incredible player. I think he should be a top 5 or 6 pick in the draft … I think that this type of storyline is lazy.
Joel Klatt admitted in an appearance on The Herd

Sanders has shown the leadership, poise, and accuracy required of a franchise quarterback. As the draft nears, his polarizing reputation continues to spark debate.
Klatt’s support cuts through the noise, reminding NFL teams of Sanders’ potential to become a foundational player. For decision-makers at the top of the board, the bigger risk might be letting him slip by.
