Dan Orlovsky might leave ESPN. The former NFL quarterback turned analyst discussed his future with the network during the Monday, February 10th segment of First Take.
Orlovsky made a name for himself for being a fair critic and for his witty exchanges with his colleagues and on social media. However, as the NFL season is coming to a close, the 41-year-old suddenly dropped a truth bomb, shocking the football audience.
You guys know this is the end of the season for me, certainly for [Ryan Clark] as well. I’m taking a break; won’t be on TV for a long time. Just want to say to thank you.
Dan Orlovsky said
One by one, Orlovsky thanked his colleagues Stephen A. Smith, Molly Qerim, and Shannon Sharpe for a great season.
I love you all. You never know what the future holds, but I’m taking a break. I’m sure R.C. is as well. So, I just want to say thank you. I appreciate you guys so much.
Dan Orlovsky said
The way Orlovsky said his goodbye definitely had an emotional aspect to it.

He has faced the heat ever since the 2024 NFL MVP title went to Josh Allen. Orlovsky was among the voters to pick the Buffalo Bills quarterback over Ravens Lamar Jackson.
Lamar’s [Jackson] season was absolutely sensational. He was probably the best player in football this year, or Ja’Marr Chase or Saquon Barkley. But value, and how much you impact your team, who you do it with, and who you do it against—that’s where I thought Josh Allen had the upper hand.
Dan Orlovsky said
Those who rooted for Jackson to get his second straight NFL MVP (3rd overall) were ticked off and brushed off Orlovsky’s explanation. Especially, fans who disagreed with Dan were glad that he was leaving ESPN.
Lmao finally get this clown off the air. Yes he knows football, but he can’t play it for shit. https://t.co/F1ESRugUio

Good. @danorlovsky7 lack of honesty with the viewers is problematic. His refusal to disclose that he was a paid contributor for the Bills should bother all sports fans.

What a disingenuous man. His greatest contribution in his tenure was to lobby for Josh Allen for MVP, and now his job is done. Hope ESPN put a non-compete clause on him.

There were speculations for quite some time that Orlovsky has been gearing up for a return to the NFL as a coach. Front Office Sport observed that he has options.
Rumors have been swirling that the 12-year NFL veteran will leave TV for a coaching position this offseason.

Orlovsky spent twelve years in the NFL as a quarterback. He bounced around teams like the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Los Angeles Rams. Perhaps joining the ranks in Detroit alongside Dan Campbell could be on the cards.
