Arrowhead Stadium roared with joy as the Kansas City Chiefs became the first team to reach the Super Bowl after winning back-to-back titles. Fireworks lit up the night sky, and golden confetti rained down like a celebration of dreams fulfilled. Amidst the jubilant chaos, Josh Allen walked off with his head bowed, the weight of another heartbreaking playoff loss clinging to him like a shadow, the memories gnawing at his spirit like a dog with a bone.

The Bills, one of the oldest franchises is one of the twelve teams to have never won the Super Bowl. In the years 1990 to 1993, the Bills had a streak of four Super Bowl losses, one more gut-wrenching than the previous. After a decade and more of decline, the Bills seemed to have found their rhythm right with the Californian farmboy Allen. Or so they thought.

I think it’s the most haunted organization and might be the most haunted player in the history of the NFL.

The ESPN analyst couldn’t have been more accurate. Over the past six seasons, the Bills have amassed an impressive 78 wins, including both regular season and postseason games. Josh Allen has been the driving force behind their playoff runs, appearing in 13 postseason games with a 7-6 record.

However, four of those losses have come at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite being regarded as one of the league’s elite players, Allen has yet to find a way to overcome Patrick Mahomes.

Four of Josh Allen’s last five playoff losses have all come at the hands of Patrick Mahomes, leaving him with a tough 0-4 record against the 29-year-old quarterback. Mahomes’ dominance over Allen began with a victory in the 2020 AFC Championship, followed by divisional-round wins in the 2021 and 2023 seasons.

Most recently, the Bills sustained yet another heartbreak as the Chiefs sealed a near-escape win in a thrilling fourth-quarter showdown in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday.

I always feel for him—he’s a great player, an amazing competitor and an awesome dude who I respect so much,” “I’m sorry it had to be us. But, you know, we compete, and someone has to win.

Patrick Mahomes admitted considering Allen as a friend while speaking to Albert Breer. He went on to place Allen in the top five quarterbacks in the league and praised Allen’s valiant efforts on Sunday. The 28-year-old quarterback delivered a solid performance, completing 64.7% of his passes for 237 yards and two touchdowns.

I have so much respect for Josh. I feel like he’s a friend. You have to beat the best in order to get to the Super Bowl. He’s one of the best quarterbacks in the league. He’s up there in the top four, five in quarterbacks. I know I was going to have to play one of these guys. The AFC’s loaded. And it’s not just me. He played his tail off today.

The Kansas City Chiefs now face the Philadelphia Eagles, who were crowned NFC champions for the third time in the last ten years, in the Super Bowl at NOLA in two weeks. The Chiefs could potentially become the first-ever team in the Super Bowl era to win three consecutive titles.
