After postponing his entry into the NFL Draft for a year, Colorado senior quarterback Shedeur Sanders is now poised to make his debut in the league in just a few months. However, while he has not been so vocal about his preferences, his father and head coach Deion Sanders appear to have quite specific preferences regarding the team he wants his son to join.

With the 2025 NFL Draft five months away, Dan Orlovsky seems to have certain observations amid the rumors of him following his son into the NFL. While highlighting Deion’s involvement in Shedeur’s professional career, the sports analyst argued that Deion is committed to ensuring his son’s success, believing that remaining in his shadow would not benefit him.

I think Deion [Sanders] will control where Shedeur goes. I do not believe that Deion is going to go to the NFL with Shedeur. Deion has set Shedeur up for success. Going to the NFL with Shedeur would set him up for failure. This is the grown men’s league. He’s not going to play daddy-son in the NFL.

Dan Orlovsky said on ESPN’s Get Up

With that in mind, Orlovsky also emphasized that Colorado plans to bring in another standout quarterback following Shedeur’s departure, noting that they would not pursue this strategy if Deion was not committed to staying.

Deion Sanders weighs options as Shedeur Sanders is linked to Las Vegas Raiders

On the contrary, the two-time Super Bowl champion recently sparked rumors of joining the Las Vegas Raiders, since his son Shedeur is being linked with them. He sought rapper Ice Cube’s advice on the “We Got Time” podcast regarding whether to follow his son into the league or allow him to forge his own path.

Ice Cube told him, “Why not? And, if it’s in a Raiders uniform. Come on, baby! That would be a dream come true as a fan,” to which Coach Prime smiled and shook his hand.

Coach Prime’s intense involvement in Shedeur’s life has sparked speculations that he intends to control his son’s life. He is so invested in the process that if Shedeur doesn’t get drafted by a suitable team as he wants, his father would consider asking him to pull an Eli Manning and sit out the entire season until he secures a spot with a team that meets Deion’s preferences.
