After the Philadelphia Eagles crumbled to a disappointing season end last season, Jalen Hurts has been determined to have a comeback this year. However, this performance is yet to meet the standards he was talking about as he threw four interceptions and a mere three touchdowns in three matches in 2024.
Comparing his current stats to last season, the trajectory has mostly remained the same, given Hurts threw 15 interceptions and 23 touchdowns in the 2023 NFL season. Highlighting the quarterback’s performance, sports analyst Dan Orlovsky made a blunt remark on Hurts’ development in the league.
Asserting that Hurts’ prime has already passed, Orlovsky believes that the Eagles’ star quarterback will not be able to replicate his previous success. The analyst’s assertion on the recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up! added fuel to the ongoing debate on Hurts’ trajectory as a quarterback.
Orlovsky argued that Hurts’ performance hasn’t improved since the Eagles’ Super Bowl appearance in 2022 and said that the primary issue with him is that he intends to hold the ball longer than necessary, which is particularly concerning at the quarterback position.
Eagles facing injury woes as key offensive weapons sidelined
Even though the Eagles are standing at a 2-1 record, they are without some of the star players. Wide receiver A.J. Brown has already been out for the last two matches, and in the upcoming match against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, DeVonta Smith will also be benched.
In addition to this, quarterback Hurts’ favorite receiver, Britain Covey was placed on the injury list after just seven snaps into the season. Hurts is using this time without his key players to set his tuning with other players on the roster.
Philly’s signal-caller shared he is focusing on growing with his team altogether to grasp all the opportunities given to him and lead them to success as he previously had.
