In a recent survey by ESPN, the expert analysis of scouts, executives, and coaches were asked to rank the top 10 players in each position group of the NFL. The Buffalo Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen was ranked in the third position in the quarterbacks category.

Interestingly, among the many executives asked by ESPN about the top quarterbacks, one veteran executive had a quite harsh analysis of Allen asserting that he isn’t as prolific as people consider him to be. He even called the Bills’ signal-caller “one of the more overrated” players across the league.

Immense talent, but he makes a lot of mistakes. He's underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic
claimed the anonymous analyst

It’s not wrong to say that Allen made his fair share of mistakes during his young days playing in the NFL, but at present, the quarterback stands in a very strong position amongst his peers even though he has never won a Super Bowl ring.

Dan Orlovsky slams critic of Josh Allen for calling him overrated

Among the many people disagreeing with the veteran executive’s harsh take on, the loudest was ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky. Not only did the former NFL quarterback disagree with the executive’s analysis of Allen, but he also called him an idiot.

He’s an idiot, that source, respectfully. That’s moronic to say. In the last four seasons, the only quarterback who has a better plus/minus turnover-to-TD ratio is Patrick Mahomes. He’s the only guy that you would definitely, without question, take over Josh Allen.
Dan Orlovsy said in the recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up

With firm belief, the ESPN analyst also predicted that Allen is just “two or three plays” away from becoming a Super Bowl-appearing or winning quarterback.

It’s a moronic statement to make. For some reason, Josh Allen has become the cover boy for ‘Who could be the biggest hater and say the dumbest stuff?’
Dan Orlovsy added

He further highlighted that the Bills got eliminated by the Chiefs in the playoffs three times and in all those losses, either it was the poor defense or missing field goals. Coming off the 2023 season, quarterback Allen posted 4,309 yards with 385-for-579 catches and 29 touchdowns.
