There’s no question that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most consistent teams in the National Football League for some time. The Steelers have just one losing season in the past twenty-five years and made playoffs more than ten times. However, they just can’t get there.
The Steelers are reportedly bringing four-time NFL MVP and former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers into the fray. The recent developments definitely create problems for Justin Fields, who served as a backup to another veteran despite showing he can handle the field and win matches.
Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback, and a current analyst, assessed the new developments on Get Up on Monday. Orlovsky noted that he as an athlete would look for alternative options if he were Fields.
Assessing the situation on Get Up Monday, Dan Orlovsky explained why he wouldn’t be too interested in returning to Pittsburgh if he were Fields.
If I’m Justin Fields, I’m respectfully not going back to the Steelers. I did everything you asked me to do when you had me as your starting quarterback … I had us at 4-2, we had beaten playoff teams and then you benched me. And then it started really hot for Russell Wilson and then it calmed down a little bit and you never gave me the opportunity to get back on the field. Respectfully, I want to go give myself an opportunity to play. I don’t trust necessarily what you’re telling me right now in this process.

Orlovksy’s stance makes sense also. However, it remains unknown whether Justin Fields will receive an option strong enough that he can become a starting quarterback. As of now, Fields has an offer on the table from New York Jets. However, the Jets are also on the hunt for a new quarterback in Shedeur Sanders in the upcoming NFL Draft.
On the other hand, the Steelers pursuing Aaron Rodgers is a divisive topic amongst the fans and critics. The Pittsburgh Steelers focusing on immediate results might not be the solution that they need after Ben Roethlisberger, maybe they need to develop a talent into a franchise leader. They are facing a hard dilemma and the decision might be the make-or-break for their future successes.
Justin Fields is waiting it out while the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers battle ahead of deadline
Justin Fields, the former Chicago Bears quarterback, is at the center of attention as he weighs his options ahead of the new league year. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fields is currently in Dubai, enjoying a brief getaway while awaiting clarity about his future. An image shared on his Instagram story, showing him at a local coffee shop with a latte, sparked further speculation about his decision-making process.

The Steelers have already made their pitch to Justin Fields, having held formal discussions with him earlier this offseason. However, the Jets remain a wildcard.
Due to the NFL’s legal tampering rules, Fields must wait until Monday to engage in any serious conversations with New York. The NFL’s legal tampering period is set to begin at noon ET on Monday, officially kicking off the chaos of NFL free agency. While teams can’t officially sign players until the free agency window opens later this week, they can begin negotiating deals — and one key quarterback’s decision could significantly shape the market.
