There is fear that the Washington Commanders might have lost star quarterback Jayden Daniels for the season after his elbow dislocated late in their embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday (November 2).

The home team is not having a good season and is struggling to win games. Their current three-game skid threatened to undermine their playoff chances, which is possibly why head coach Dan Quinn kept his quarterback on the field.

The Seahawks held a commanding 38-7 lead with a little over 7 and a half minutes when the former LSU star decided to take it to the house. Instead, he faced resistance from opposing linebacker Drake Thomas, who dragged him down to the ground.

While trying to control his fall, Jayden Daniels’ left arm got hooked to the ground and bent backward. Now, his left elbow is dislocated, and could see him sit out the rest of the season.

Quinn faced a lot of heat over his decision to keep his QB on the field, especially with such a massive deficit to overcome. Earlier, when speaking with reporters, the head coach said this:

I know many of you have been asking about the thought process of Jayden being in the game in that situation, I get that. I’ve been thinking about it honestly nonstop too, and for me the answer is, man, I missed it… That is 100% on me.

The 55-year-old recalled how that drive was supposed to be the last for Jayden Daniels and other starters. However, in hindsight, Quinn agrees they could have been pulled earlier.

When Jayden Daniels lay on the field with his left arm bent sideways, a deafening silence fell over Northwest Stadium. As many of his teammates kneeled, veteran tight end Zach Ertz was visibly upset.

Just distraught. I care about Jayden the person much more than the player. The player is phenomenal, one of the best players in the league. He meant so much to me, to see him down like that in pain is tough. Football is a tough sport, a physical sport. To see injuries like that is difficult.

The Super Bowl-winning tight end was echoing what his teammates felt watching their star quarterback suffer such a horrific injury. No matter what their future holds, no athlete would wish another to suffer something like this.

Commanders’ season might be over after losing Jayden Daniels

The Washington Commanders will have to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to know the full extent of Jayden Daniels’ injury. Many are speculating that he is likely done for the season.

Even if he tries to come back, there might not be much to salvage in this season. They have now lost 4 straight, and do not have a particularly favorable schedule.

On top of that, John Keim added in his article that star cornerback Marshon Lattimore tore his ACL, and receiver/kick returner Luke McCaffrey fractured his collarbone.

Along with the myriad of injuries they have faced this season, it is unlikely that their situation will improve. It would be sensible for them to shut down their QB, as it is unlikely that they will reach the postseason.
