Dana White‘s Las Vegas Sphere dream project, Noche UFC (also known as UFC 306), will take place on September 15. In the main event, Sean O’Malley will defend his bantamweight title against challenger Merab Dvalishvili. However, with barely five weeks till the event, some recent developments have irritated the UFC CEO.
Merab Dvalishvili recently posted a clip of him with a cut over his right eye. Nevertheless, it is not as gruesome as Charles Oliveira’s injury ahead of UFC 294. As expected, O’Malley took to social media and warned the Georgian not to pull out from the fight. On the other hand, Dana White was annoyed with Dvalishvili publicly posting about his injury ahead of the fight.
Our guys are doing dumb….It's a small cut. No big deal but obviously needed to be posted…It is next-level stupid. Some of these guys are so stupid it’s mind-boggling. It’s unbelievable.Dana White via Contender Series presser
According to Dana White, against a sniper striker like O’Malley, it was a ‘stupid’ move from Dvalishvili to mention his injury. The CEO also went on to mention that something like this never happens in boxing. However, in his promotion, the fighters cannot stop from updating everything on social media.
White has invested more than $20 million in the Las Vegas Sphere project and promised an incredible viewing experience. White is already concerned about colliding with Canelo Alvarez’s boxing bout on the same night at the T-Mobile Arena. As a result, he won’t appreciate any kind of hiccups to his grand plans at the Sphere. As for Dvalishvili, the fighter has already announced that there is no reason to worry.
Merab Dvalishvili confirms that he will not pull out from Noche UFC due to the cut
Merab Dvalishvili has waited for a long time in order to get the bantamweight title shot. The Georgian fighter is currently on a 10-fight winning streak and has enough momentum to dethrone Sean O’Malley. The rivalry, which started out with jokes and skits, has now taken a serious turn.
Dvalishvili has also promised to smack O’Malley’s coach, Tim Welch, for trash-talking. However, with Dvalishvili’s recent health scare, many fans questioned the fighter’s ability to continue his fight camp. The ‘Machine’ uploaded a new video of him training in the gym and mentioned that the injury had no impact on him.
You think this little cut gonna stop me? I don't understand. I guess you guys are WEAK and you guys are making excuses, talking too much.Merab Dvalishvili via Instagram
Recently, Dvalishvili confronted a heckler at the Craig Jones Invitational. As per the reports, the fan was shouting insults at the fighter. Given the circumstances, O’Malley urged his fans to not make fun of ‘insecure’ Dvalishvili ahead of the fight. Nonetheless, the stage is set for Noche UFC, and the hype around the event is massive.
