Since taking control of the UFC in 2001, Dana White has played a key role in reshaping MMA. He helped transform the promotion from a struggling, often-shunned brand into a global, multi-billion-dollar powerhouse. However, that rise has not come without criticism, especially around fighter pay and autonomy. Popular streamer MoistCr1TiKaL recently called out the UFC boss for underpaying fighters.

In recent years, White has continued to lead the UFC through major changes, including the 2023 merger between Endeavor Group Holdings and WWE to form TKO Group Holdings. While operating under TKO, White has retained control of day-to-day operations, as the promotion also moved toward a reported $7.7 billion media rights deal with Paramount+, signaling continued commercial growth and exposure.

Most recently, a 2024 Pound 4 Pound podcast episode resurfaced, where White spoke about scheduling the birth of his son, Aidan White, before a fight involving Chuck Liddell, which led to a C-section as he chose not to miss the event.

This resurfaced story, combined with ongoing pay concerns, prompted MoistCr1TiKaL, whose real name is Charles Christopher White Jr., to call out the UFC CEO during a stream.

This is just vile. Like, I don’t know how anyone could hear this and walk away with a positive impression of that. He jeopardized the safety and the health of not just his wife, but also his baby, so that way he could go to the Chuck Liddell fight.  You’re going to C-section your baby early solely so you can go to that fight. Again, that puts his wife in danger. That puts his baby in danger. That’s crazy to me that anyone’s looking at this as anything other than just downright evil. Scumbag, I do not like Dana White but I really like the fighters, it’s such a shame. It sucks, he sucks.

With the 2026 calendar taking shape, including a planned White House event in the coming months, attention on his leadership has intensified further in recent weeks. Figures like Ariel Helwani have criticized him for a perceived lack of focus on the UFC, citing underwhelming announcements and reduced engagement.

The UFC is facing increasing scrutiny over its contractual structure, with critics pointing to restrictive deals and significant control over fighter autonomy. The biggest recent blow came from Ronda Rousey, who is set to return to competition under the MVP MMA banner after nearly a decade away. She took aim at White and the promotion’s leadership for what she described as a limiting approach toward fighters.

Fighter pay has remained a longstanding debate within the UFC, continuing to divide opinion across the sport. Dana White has consistently maintained that fighters are responsible for building their own careers and financial opportunities, repeatedly defending the promotion’s treatment of athletes. However, the recent criticism from MoistCr1TiKaL highlights how far the debate has now extended beyond MMA circles.

Over nearly three decades, Buffer’s tenure has made him an integral part of the promotion’s global identity.

However, throughout his career, Buffer has rarely made mistakes, making a similar instance at UFC Seattle notable, when he incorrectly announced Marcin Tybura as the winner against Tyrell Fortune before the decision was corrected. The error caused confusion as Fortune began exiting the Octagon before being called back, a moment that drew a hilarious response from Dana White during the post-fight presser.

Buffer probably hung himself somewhere back here tonight. Buffer is an absolute pro and very rarely does that guy makes mistakes and I think it’s happened one other time, we sent him to counseling and he made it through it.

While Bruce Buffer’s recent mistake drew attention, it is not entirely unprecedented. A similar rare error occurred at UFC 301, where he announced Vitor Petrino as the wrong winner before correcting it to Anthony Smith during the event.

Such moments remain extremely uncommon in his three-decade-long tenure inside the Octagon. Dana White has continued to back the veteran announcer despite these incidents.
