After Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement the lightweight division is just on a stall right now, with so many big names being present in the division who are giving out back-to-back incredible performances it’s getting hard to keep it that way for the UFC president Dana White.
Dana White had a meeting with Khabib in January this year to discuss the possibility of his comeback and after the meeting, it looked like Khabib had no intentions of coming back, even after UFC 257 Khabib told Dana White “Be honest with yourself, I’m so many levels above these guys.”
This statement can’t be disregarded because Khabib has dominated everyone in the division and isn’t interested to fight anymore, but Dana White still isn’t convinced. He still refuses to remove Khabib’s name as the lightweight champion and he might be considering organizing an event to determine the top contender for Khabib.
In an interview with “Complex” he said, “The one that deserves to be the champion is the one that comes out on top in this tournament. Khabib beat Conor. Khabib destroyed Dustin. Khabib is the man.”
“He’s the champ, he’s the guy. If you look at the guys that deserve to be there it’s whoever’s gonna win out of the top-5. You’ve got Poirier, Gaethje, Charles Oliveira, Chandler, and you still have Tony Ferguson and Conor in the mix too.”
Now if this tournament actually takes place then MMA fans are in for a treat.
Dana White says no matter what Khabib says I know he wants to compete

Dana White is meeting with Khabib once again for a lunch to discuss his comeback, although Khabib hasn’t shown any interest in coming back the UFC president Dana White is still positive that he will come back for one more fight, when asked about the same he said, “I don’t care what Khabib says, you’re telling me that a he got his record to 29-0 so close to his dream of 30-0 and after one fight he loses all his competitive spirit, I’m not buying it.”
Now if someone can actually put up a performance so incredible that might impress Khabib then there is no harm in coming back and improving his record to 30-0 and fulfill his father’s dream.
