Earlier this month, President Donald Trump announced that the UFC was all set to host a fight card on the grounds of the White House next year in honor of the United States’ 250th birthday. The blockbuster announcement was later acknowledged by Dana White, who shared the news on his Instagram story and confirmed the same.
Now, it seems the UFC CEO is planning to make the historic card even more spectacular by involving two of the promotion’s biggest stars: Jon Jones and Conor McGregor. During a recent appearance on the Full Send podcast, White discussed the highly anticipated event and addressed questions about its headliner.
White added that his dream main event for the card would be a heavyweight title clash against consensus MMA GOAT and the reigning champion, Tom Aspinall. When asked whether McGregor could also feature on the card, the UFC boss responded with optimism.
McGregor has gotten himself to a point where he is and will be, whether he stops fighting or not, one of the biggest superstars in sports, period. He’s gotten to a level of success in his life where he has to, I think, be motivated by something.

For the unversed, McGregor has not stepped inside the Octagon for almost four years now. The Irishman last fought at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier, which ended in misery and a broken leg. Although a bout with Michael Chandler was in the books on multiple occasions, with the fight even locked for UFC 303, ‘The Notorious’ pulled out due to an injury.

Following the cancelation of his return bout at UFC 303, the promotion didn’t try to rebook the fight. While fans still want to see McGregor return to the octagon, Dana White feels that all depends on the Irishman’s motivation.
He’s accomplished everything and especially financially. Now he’s got to find something that truly motivates him to want to come back and do this again. I don’t know if the White House is it, but we’ll see.

With the UFC CEO hell bent on making the White House card the greatest spectacle in the history of the company, it is only fitting to have two of the biggest stars fighting on it. But what did Jones and McGregor have to say about the possibility?

With Donald Trump and Dana White taking center stage to bring the UFC to the nation’s capital, it seems that Jones and McGregor aren’t waiting in the wings. Instead, the electrifying duo has expressed interest in featuring on the card as the main attractions. When a fan asked about Jones’ intentions to return, ‘Bones’ revealed what made him reconsider his retirement.
Donald made his announcement on the morning of the Fourth of July. I called the UFC headquarters that very same afternoon. I’ll just leave it at that. America! Now that tickles my pickle.

With Jones already back in the testing pool and White confirming that the news was official, fans may very well see ‘Bones’ returning for his last hurrah in 2026. Meanwhile, McGregor also expressed his interest in returning to headline UFC White House after meeting Trump earlier this year on St. Patrick’s Eve amid the possibility of running for the President of Ireland.
During the recent BKFC presser event, ‘Mystic Mac’ said, “It’s looking like I’m headed to the Oval office again. That’s where I’m headed next.” With the Irishman reigniting his rivalry with Michael Chandler, it seems that the UFC may have a blockbuster card on their card on America’s 250th birthday.
