- Dana White is promoting the Johnny Manziel vs Bob Menery fight despite no UFC event this weekend.
- Manziel struggled with weight cuts but ultimately made the new limit for the fight.
- The bout will take place under modified MMA rules at Adin Ross' BrandRisk 14 event.
With no UFC event this week, CEO Dana White still has the Johnny Manziel vs. Bob Menery fight to keep his eye on. The veteran promoter bet $100,000 on the fight ultimately not happening. Now, with less than 24 hours left before the fight, the White is still questioning whether the influencer will show up at the fight.
Manziel and Menery are set to take each other in a modified MMA match at Adin Ross‘ promotion’s upcoming event, Brand Risk 14. White’s bet nearly paid off after reports came out stating that Manziel had to endure a brutal weight cut to reach the agreed-upon 196lbs weight limit. However, once it became clear that he wasn’t making weight, the limit was reportedly raised to 198lbs.
The former Heisman trophy winner still struggled to make the new limit. Nonetheless, he did end up making weight following the change on weigh-in day. So now, the fight looks to be going ahead as scheduled, meaning the UFC‘s CEO is about to be $100,000 poorer. In the wake of this, taking to X, White wrote:

Dana White was criticized earlier for showing more enthusiasm for this upcoming bout than he does for UFC fights. The veteran promoter has come under a lot of fire recently for the UFC’s apparent lack of effort in promotion, including their use of AI in recent promotional material. Even so, the 56-year-old continues to boost this card by posting about it to over 6 million of his followers.
It appears from the veteran promoter’s post that he remains skeptical of Bob Menery showing up to this fight. However, the influencer did show up for the face-off against Manziel. The size difference between them became apparent as the former football star dwarfed the influencer. Despite the influencer’s best effort to look big with baggy clothing, the height difference between him and his opponent was too stark to ignore.
Johnny Manziel vs. Bob Menery rules set as Dana White hypes fight
Fans were shocked to learn about Johnny Manziel’s switch to celebrity boxing when he announced his fight against Bob Menery earlier this year. But since then, their fight has gone from a boxing match to an amateur MMA fight under altered rules.

Manziel and Menery are set to duke it out in the main event of Adin Ross’ Brand Risk 14, an event set to feature both MMA and boxing fights. As such, the fight between the influencer and former football star will be contested under amateur MMA rules. That means knees and elbows to the face are considered illegal.
Later, it was reported that both contestants would be wearing 6-ounce gloves. The official Brand Risk site says the two are scheduled to go at it for 3 rounds. But it isn’t clear how long the rounds will be. Moreover, the bout is listed as a middleweight encounter despite the evident size disparity between the two.
Despite both Menery and Manziel claiming that it’s all love between them, there were instances of the influencer getting under the former NFL star’s skin.
