Colby Covington is undoubtedly one of the most controversial fighters on the UFC roster. However, the former title contender is going through a rough patch right now with back-to-back losses. While fans are skeptical about his future, UFC veteran Daniel Cormier does have a great idea for Covington’s future.

Cormier has now collaborated with Chael Sonnen to host the new season of The Ultimate Fighter. This show has been an integral part of UFC, where coaches are generally expected to fight at the end. However, both Hall of Famers have no interest in doing so. In a recent interview, DC shared his master plan to make this work out.

I have Michael Chiesa on my coaching staff, Chael has Colby Covington on his coaching staff. Why don’t they just fight and Chael and I coach them?

Sonnen also seconded the opinion and mentioned that the fight has massive potential. He has always been a good mentor to Covington and was seen in his corner in his last outing. However, the fight didn’t go as planned as the ‘Chaos’ was dominated by Joaquin Buckley

Covington didn’t accept the decision and blamed the doctor for prematurely stopping the fight. However, many fans and experts mentioned that it was the right call and the fighter looked helpless. It would be interesting to see how one of the biggest heels in the industry manages to bounce back.

Colby Covington’s biggest rival

Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal were once close friends and training partners at American Top Team. Their relationship soured over financial disputes and Covington’s trash talk about Masvidal. They fought at UFC 272, where Covington won via unanimous decision after dominating Masvidal. While the build-up to the fight was entertaining, the fight was rather underwhelming.

Later, the ‘Gamebred’ assaulted Covington outside a Miami restaurant, leading to legal charges. Their rivalry remains one of the most personal and bitter in UFC history. In a recent interview, the Miami native shared details about their relationship.

Me and him will never be cool just because he brought my kids in numerous situations. And that motherf***** lived on my couch for like eight months and to sell a pay-per-view, you talking shit to me? That’s crazy dawg, you a bit**.

Masvidal has now retired from UFC and has since taken an interest in boxing. Last year, he shared the ring with UFC veteran Nate Diaz and lost the fight via majority decision. On the other hand, Colby Covington is more focused on potentially making his WWE debut.
