‘Let me get through this so I can work on other things’ – Dana White speaks out Conor’s mind before his loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257
Conor McGregor was knocked out for the first time in his professional MMA career against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257. The Irishman succumbed to a flurry of punches from Dustin Poirier, after having made a decent start to the fight. Although it came as a surprise to the MMA community, Dustin Poirier came with the perfect gameplan to defeat ‘The Notorious’.
Speaking about this in an interview with Caroline Pearce of BT Sport, UFC President Dana White felt that Conor McGregor overlooked Dustin Poirier in their rematch at UFC 257. He added that Conor was in a hurry to get things done, already concentrating on what’s next, instead of concentrating on the present.
‘I mean only Conor can answer this question‘
Dana White was quoted as saying, “I don’t think there has to be trash talk or any of that stuff. I think that, I don’t know if this is true, I mean only Conor can answer this question. I think Conor was overlooking Dustin (Dustin Poirier at UFC 257) and was like, ‘Let me get through this so I can work on other things’.“
Conor McGregor, since losing to Dustin, has claimed that he will no more be the nice guy he was, during UFC 257. He and his team have been working on rectifying the mistakes, especially Conor’s inability to check Dustin’s calf kicks, which severely affected his mobility at UFC 257.
Once the medical suspension gets over (6 months since UFC 257), Conor will be looking forward to gaining the upper hand in the McGregor – Poirier saga. Do you agree with Dana White’s comments? Can Conor McGregor bounce back from his UFC 257 loss?
