The UFC women’s strawweight champion Weili Zhang produced one of the most excited UFC fights for the fans when she faced Joanna Jedrzejczyk. This fight was named the UFC Fight of the year 2020.

UFC president Dana White is planning to book the next title defense of Weili Zhang this year near her home country China. During his latest interview with ESPN, White says, “We’re working on her, too, Obviously, the fight that everybody wants to see is her and Rose Namajunas.”

“Hopefully we can get that done. If not, the next one in line would probably be Carla Esparza. We’re looking at doing that fight this year and in Asia.”

Weili gained huge popularity by knocking out Jessica Andrade in her home country China and becoming the first Chinese UFC Champion. She was the crowd favorite in this fight and she lives up to expectations completely by knocking Andrade out in just 42 seconds of the very first round.

Zhang and Joanna fought with each other in March 2020 and since then she hasn’t fought but Dana White believes that this time she can get the title shot near her home as UFC is trying to book a fight in Asia.

Weili Zhang will most probably defend her title in the fight against Rose Namajunas most probably and if not Namajunas, Carla Esparza is next in the line but Joanna Jedrzejczyk also wants to take her revenge on Zhang.

In his latest interview with SCMP MMA, Jedrzejczyk says, “I put on a hell of a fight last time. I was the co-main event, but I felt like me and Weili were the real deal on the show – and with the main event.”

“We put on a hell of a show, and I deserve more money. I deserve a bigger piece of cake. I don’t want to complain like the other fighters. There are more than 500 fighters, but I’m a big part of this company,”
