Dana White plans to give fans in-person experience for McGregor versus Poirier

Dana White plans to give fans in-person experience for McGregor versus Poirier
Conor McGregor set to take on Dustin Poirier in their rematch at UFC 257 on January 23rd, 2021.

At the start of the pandemic, the UFC president Dana White temporarily cancelled all UFC events. He later knew the fans craved for more and shifted events to Florida, the UFC Apex in Las Vegas to the Fight Island in U.A.E.

Now, Dana White knows that big headline fights will soon take place, a lot of notable names will step into the Octagon after a long break. This has led him to potentially move fights to an actual stadium and start allowing fans once again to witness the events in person.

His idea and potential plan all came into existence once an official notice for the rematch of Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier was announced to take place on January 23rd at UFC 257.

The Notorious one is a fighter to bring in money as well as fans, letting the fans witness him back in the Octagon would only make sense.

“That’s where I am thinking. What I’m hoping to do is Fight Island, make it International fight week, the new Etihad arena will be open and that thing was designed with us in mind, concerts, pool parties, all kinds of cool stuff, and yes I hope to bring the fans back. So imagine all the stuff that has gone on, all the things the people have seen….now you’ll get an opportunity to come there, be a part of it.”

Dana plans on having a jam packed week with three fights in the span on just 7 days. Most likely to happen on a weekend on Saturday, then a Wednesday and back again to the weekend to take place on a Saturday.

McGregor last took part in the UFC against veteran Donald Cerrone in a Welterweight bout at UFC 246 and shocked the fans with a first-round stoppage. He looks to make a return after his last fight in the Octagon.

His upcoming fight will take place against former UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Dustin Poirier. The two last met in 2014, the fight was surrounded with a lot of trash talk and Conor walked out with a first-round KO just as he predicted.

Poirier has dramatically improved ever since and seeing a part two of their fight will bring joy to every UFC fan. Is the Notorious one ready to take on an upgraded Dustin Poirier?
