‘If he wants to fight, we’ll get a fight done for him’ – Dana White teases a fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic

Jon Jones’s heavyweight debut has been in question for an extended period of time. Jones relinquished his light-heavyweight title in August 2020, in a bid to move to the heavyweight division, seeking harder challenges. He did so, and has put on a lot of muscle and weight since then, but has never fought even once since.

He was expected to take on newly-crowned heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. But a failed pay dispute with UFC President Dana White meant that the plan was shelved, and the fight has probably gone to number 2 ranked heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis.

Now, in an interview with Brett Okamoto of ESPN, White has brought out a new twist. He revealed that he might be looking at a possible matchup between ‘Heavyweight GOAT’ Stipe Miocic and Jon Jones, to mark Bones’ debut.

White was quoted as saying, “[Miocic] is the heavyweight G.O.A.T., the guy has put in the work and done all the things you need to do to be the heavyweight G.O.A.T., that’s a fact. I like that he’s fired up and wants to fight again. Listen, we could do Jon and Stipe. Jon’s one of the best to ever do it. If he wants to fight, we’ll get a fight done for him.” [via MMA Mania]

Miocic is just coming off his loss against Francis Ngannou at UFC 260. He was knocked out cold in the second round of the main event, as he eventually conceded his title to the Cameroonian.

A bulked-up Stipe Miocic is someone to watchout for!

Miocic who usually fights at around 220 to 230lbs, has teased a huge upgrade to fighting at 250lbs. He warned that he might become everyone’s worst nightmare. ‘The Cleveland’s finest’ still seems to be hungry.

Miocic tweeted, “Stipe at 250 you say??? Funny you should mention… It’s bulking season son! Woke up feeling like Im about to become everyone’s worst nightmare!”
