“He looked like a former shell of himself,” Dana White wants Shogun Rua to retire

“He looked like a former shell of himself,” Dana White wants Shogun Rua to retire
Paul Craig and Muricio Shogun Rua

Mauricio Shogun’ Rua” and “Paul Craig” had their rematch at UFC 255. The first-fight, which was quite competitive, ended in a split draw. However, the rematch, not so much. The Former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua lost the rematch badly to the point where he ended up tapping to strikes in the 2nd round.

Credit where credit is due, this was only Shogun’s 1st loss in his last 8 but despite that, UFC president “Dana White” felt it is about time Rua hangs the gloves and enjoys retirement.

Shogun was on a bit of a career #resurrection almost, winning many of his recent fights spectacularly and us fans obviously love it. Whether or not it is nostalgia or not, we love seeing legends fight. Age, however, catchs up to everyone.

All of Rua’s losses came by the way of TKO or KO’s and his most recent fight was no way close. Paul dominated the fight with his wrestling and strikes.

In the post-fight press conference, White made the comments: “I hope it is, I hope that tonight was his last night,” and “I would like to see him retire.”

I hope that tonight was his last night: Dana White

Dana White

We all know how Dana feels about legends fighting. Just look at how he let other fights like BJ Penn or Anderson Silva whom he let fight in the UFC despite them arguably being way out of their prime and them still wanting to. However, White also understands what fighting can do to you.

“Shogun looked old and looked like a shell of his former self tonight. Yeah, I’d like to see him hang it up hopefully.” White said

“[Paul Craig] looked good and not to take anything away from him at all, he came and did what he had to do tonight but just being honest, Shogun didn’t look like Shogun to me tonight,”

Dana further added “I think he has two fights left on his deal but yeah, I’d like to see him retire.” Needless to say, the decision is Rua’s to make. Clearly, Dana would rather have him retire. What do you guys think?
