The UFC heavyweight division has lost its old glory in the last few years. Recently, fans were shocked after learning about Dana White letting go of Jairzinho Rozenstruik from the roster. Reacting to this new development, UFC lightweight Renato Moicano shared some of his insights.

The heavyweight fight between Rozenstruik and Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia was an absolute snoozefest. During the post-fight presser, White was visibly mad about the underwhelming performance from both fighters. According to Moicano, there must be a thought process behind this move from the UFC.

That’s crazy they cut Jairzinho! 2 losses on the last 5 fights! I think UFC is trying to send a message to heavyweights!

Rozenstruik joined UFC back in 2019 and had an inconsistent career with nine wins and six losses. However, UFC is known for keeping around fighters such as Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone and Tony Ferguson with much worse losing streaks. Tai Tuivasa, who has lost to Rozenstruik is currently on a five-fight win streak, but wasn’t cut from the promotion.

This has further started theories that performance might not be the only reason for Rozenstruik’s departure from the promotion. Rozenstruik has yet to make a public statement about being cut from UFC. Nevertheless, all this has made the heavyweight division one of the most lackluster divisions in the promotion.

UFC interim heavyweight champion predicts the downfall of the division

Historically the UFC heavyweight division has been the most entertaining due to its unpredictability and brutal knockouts. Legends such as Stipe Miocic, Daniel Cormier, Cain Velasquez, Brock Lesnar, etc used to rule the division. Lately, the fights have become underwhelming, and they lack real talented fighters with a killer instinct.

While Jon Jones becoming the heavyweight champion has worked out well, he might retire soon. Apart from him, Tom Aspinall is another big name who will probably need some big names to entertain the crowd. Recently, the Brit talked about the lackluster heavyweight clash at UFC Saudi Arabia.

These heavyweight fights lately absolutely stink. Let’s get some excitement back and stop holding it up.

Aspinall is eagerly waiting for his opportunity to unify his heavyweight belt by beating Jon Jones next. The fight has been on the table for a long time now and fans are getting desperate to see that. CEO Dana White has already promised to make that happen in 2025. As such, it will be interesting to see how it works out.
