Stone Cold Steve Austin advised Daniel Bryan to learn new wrestling style

Daniel Bryan suffered a neck injury at the peak of his career in 2014. He had to undergo a surgery, and was off WWE for quite a while. Stone Cold Steve Austin had faced a similar incident, when he injured his neck in 1997.

Daniel Bryan recently revealed that Steve Austin reached out to him and told him to consider changing his in-ring style, after the surgery. Bryan was speaking on WWE Network’s show Meeting Stone Cold. He said that on Austin’s advice he learnt a new wrestling style during his absence from the ring.

He just called me and he was interested in how my neck was because obviously he had neck issues, and he said, ‘You know, when you come back, you should try to work a different style.’ He said, ‘When I hurt my neck, I studied a bunch of Jerry Lawler and learned how to tell stories with just punches and kicks so it would take less toll on my body.’ He said, ‘You still work your a** off.’ And so that was really kind of him to call and say that to me.”
