Daniel Cormier remains one of the most respected fighters in UFC history. While his commentary and analysis often draws criticism, the former two-division champion remains a legend of the sport. However, controversy followed him after UFC Freedom 250 due to an alleged conversation involving Eric Trump. The UFC veteran has now addressed the situation, claiming that his social media account was hacked.

The controversy began when screenshots allegedly showing a conversation between Cormier and Trump surfaced online. The exchange appeared to include discussion about betting information and questions regarding potentially rigged fights at UFC Freedom 250. The screenshots quickly spread across social media before being deleted. Both Cormier and Trump later denied that the conversation was authentic.

DC served on the commentary team for UFC Freedom 250 and was heavily involved in media activities leading up to the event. The Hall of Famer expressed disbelief that many people accepted the screenshots as genuine after they surfaced online. He recently addressed the controversy and explained that his social media account had been hacked and maintained that the alleged conversation never came from him.

Guys, this is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday night. I go to the event, and they’re telling me, talking to me about something that I have no idea that is going on. I have no idea how long it was up. I had no idea how long it had been taken down. Now, whoever did this, whoever hacked my Twitter, they posted and took it down, because they think that people are going to believe stuff like that. At the end of the day, I would never do anything like that. I would never engage in those conversations. I would never go to Twitter and post that after engaging in those conversations.

Eric Trump is the third child of U.S. President Donald Trump. UFC Freedom 250 was widely promoted as a joint vision of the American President and UFC CEO Dana White, making the event a landmark occasion. Had the alleged screenshots been proven authentic, they could have created significant controversy around the Trump family. The claims therefore attracted attention far beyond the sport itself.

Beyond his UFC accomplishments, Cormier is a decorated American wrestling veteran who has long advocated for strengthening wrestling in the United States. Having grown up in Lafayette, Louisiana, he has frequently shared stories about his childhood and the challenges he overcame on his journey to success. The former champion has remained passionate about giving back to the sport that shaped him.

The controversy came at a time when fight integrity remained a sensitive issue in MMA. Debate grew in recent months after the Isaac Dulgarian case, increasing scrutiny around betting and matchmaking. That backdrop made the alleged screenshots especially damaging when they surfaced online. With Daniel Cormier denying their authenticity and blaming a hack, attention may shift back to his legacy in the sport.

Daniel Cormier praises two-time interim heavyweight champion for UFC Freedom 250 performance

Alex Pereira moved up to heavyweight at UFC Freedom 250 to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim title. Gane used movement and timing to consistently outstrike Pereira across key portions. Pereira struggled to consistently close range and was repeatedly met with accurate counters while advancing. The fight ended in a second-round TKO after the Frenchman landed a sustained series of unanswered strikes.

Daniel Cormier has consistently praised Gane’s technical skill set, especially his movement and striking efficiency. He had previously picked the French heavyweight star to outclass Jon Jones at UFC 285. However, that prediction did not come to fruition as Gane was submitted early in the fight. DC’s latest analysis comes after Gane’s dominant performance over Pereira at UFC Freedom 250.

Ciryl Gane is the real deal. I don’t understand why, for so long, we have all tried to bypass Ciryl Gane as one of the best heavyweights, if not the best heavyweight in the world. He has told you time and time again he belongs. He’s told us time and time again, ‘I’ve earned my opportunity, that I’ve earned my chances to get these title fights. Nothing’s given, nobody gave me anything.’

Alex Pereira wanted to file an appeal following his knockout loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250, citing illegal strikes and errors made by referee Herb Dean during the stoppage. The appeal challenges the legitimacy of the second-round TKO finish in his interim heavyweight title fight.

Nevertheless, ‘Poatan’ decided to not proceed with an appeal. Daniel Cormier’s analysis has instead highlighted Gane’s technical control during the decisive moments.
