Khabib Nurmagomedov announced his retirement at UFC 254, on the 24th of October, 2020, after beating Justin Gaethje via submission in the second round. However, there were rumors afloat that ‘The Dagestani’ would come back to the octagon. Recently Khabib ended all the doubts surrounding his retirement, as he officially confirmed his retirement, which was later confirmed by the bossman Dana White.
Speaking about this in the recent episode of DC & Helwani MMA Show, Daniel Cormier reflected upon the ‘ultra-rare breed that is – Khabib Nurmagomedov. A close aide of the Dagestani himself, DC also revealed that there wouldn’t have ever been a time when Dana White had put so much pressure on someone and still failed.

Cormier was quoted as saying, “When someone, especially a guy in his position [Khabib Nurmagomedov] makes up his mind, nothing’s gonna change. And, I don’t know if there has ever been a time where Dana’s put that much pressure on someone and they’ve actually been able to stand firm. All across the board though man, everything was done. Khabib recently revealed that he was already very clear with his future right from the day he announced his retirement. Despite knowing that ‘The Dagestani’ is a man of his word, the MMA world waited impatiently, believing that he would comeback. But with a record of 29-0 and having conquered the games’ elite, ‘The Eagle’ decided to retire.
