“If anybody has that ability, it’s Jorge Masvidal,” says Daniel Cormier on Jorge Masvidal’s chances to beat Kamaru Usman

UFC two-division champ, now commentator and MMA analyst, Daniel Cormier believes that BMF champion Jorge Masvidal might be the man to end Kamaru Usman in the upcoming fight. Kamaru Usman and Jorge Masvidal fight each other for the second time in the octagon at UFC 261. The fight takes place this weekend on April 24th at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Daniel Cormier strongly believes that now that ‘Gamebred’ has a full training camp and a longer notice than his first fight against Usman he could end the record breaking consecutive winning streak of Kamaru. Usman is now 13 fights in without a defeat. His last fight was against Gilbert Burns.
Jorge Masvidal on the other hand is coming off that defeat against the welterweight champion at UFC 251 in 2020. Masvidal took up the fight within a week’s notice and faced defeat by unanimous decision. He will be looking to get back at the current champion and strip him off the belt.
Daniel Cormier on the ESPN’s DC & Helwani show spoke about the first fight with a crowd after the pandemic. DC believes that the fans and spectators will be seeing a much better fight than the first one. “I think that we’re gonna see a much better fight between these two,” Cormier said.
Daniel Cormier says Kamaru Usman is a tall hill to climb
Though DC believes that Jorge Masvidal has an Hail Mary attempt at beating the reigning champion of the Welterweight division, Jorge still has a lot of work to do. Kamaru is on the talks of being the greatest welterweight of all time. Jorge Masvidal has a huge challenge in front of him.
“Is Jorge good enough to close the gap? I don’t know. It’s a tall hill to climb, man. Usman is as good as they come and Masvidal is going to have to fight the absolute perfect fight in order to beat him. But if anybody has that ability, it’s Jorge Masvidal,” Daniel on the show.
