It’d be a good notion if a boxer recuperates by taking time out in a light setting after a knockout or hard loss. Say, someone famous and with the caliber of Daniel Dubois. ‘Dynamite’ recently lost his rematch against heavyweight icon Oleksandr Usyk, two years apart from their first clash. However, fan feeds have the Englishman frolicking around in a domestic setting before the fight, not after!

WBA (Super), WBO, and WBC champion Oleksandr Usyk faced IBF heavyweight titleholder Daniel Dubois for the second time out from inside Wembley Stadium. This time, “Cat” from Ukraine violently ended the bout with a fifth-round hard left that sent the UK boxer down for the count.

The Ukrainian heavyweight king has now improved to 24-0 with class wins over Duboi, ex-WBC champion Tyson Fury (twice, too), as well as Anthony Joshua. Interestingly, Usyk vacated the stakes to his IBF hardware for a match between Dubois and AJ. He has thus retained all his titles in the Wembley Stadium unification bout.

In the aftermath of it, the 38-year-old Ukrainian, with his WBC hardware draped around his chest, said he’s in his prime and just getting started. But “Dynamite,” who scouted out this match-up, took to celebrating his youth early, even before the fight. The boxing world is shocked over footage of it; most are divided on the matter, though.

Recently, WBO interim heavyweight champion Joseph Parker voiced some disbelief on the notions of pre-match partying. For the most part – fans cannot exactly bill if this was him genuinely partying around mere hours before the fight or a Dubois’ sendoff.

It’s not uncommon to do so. Debuting boxer Francis Ngannou saw quite a sendoff before Riyadh Season in 2023. But even so, there’s the tinge of underlying thought that this might just have affected his performance in the defeat. However, for his part, Dubois has got the support of a UK boxing sensation.

Tyson Fury defends Daniel Dubois against fans saying he ‘quit’ during Oleksandr Usyk KO

Tyson Fury, not that long ago, challenged Usyk in a second bid to capture his WBA, WBO, and WBC titles and get back to his glory. However, despite earnest efforts, more so than their first encounter, ‘Gypsy King’ lost out a lopsided 116-112 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Queensberry Promotions helmsman Frank Warren and Fury himself angrily retorted this was a Christmas gesture by Saudi Arabia GEA to appease Usyk with the scoring. However, the angst aside, Fury did make strides in improvement.

The Englisman made strides of improvement and put in the effort against the brilliantly-paced Oleksandr Usyk. Sometimes, the best effort does not translate to winning results; Fury gets that. So, it doesn’t sit well with him that fans are saying ‘Triple-D’ Dubois’ performance vs. the Ukrainian “Cat” or the round five KO meant he was giving up early.

I keep getting asked about this Dubois situation, the quitting stuff — and whatever else, …Here’s the facts: young Daniel did his best against one of the greatest champions that’s ever been and it wasn’t good enough, he come up short. He got put down twice, what do you want him to do? Die in the ring!?… The lad did his best.

For his part, Daniel Dubois was riding well in the start, and Oleksandr Usyk was settling in to just counter-attack. However, he ramped up the pace quite well. The undisputed champion did hurt him with quite a few ranged rights, but Dubois did shake off the cobwebs until he couldn’t after a consecutive right and then a nasty left that downed him.

Fans, along with UK boxing veteran Derek Chisora, billed that the boxer quit in the fifth round. This is just splicing up more to prove Usyk (now 24-0, 15 KOs) and his title encore is that much better than Dubois being that much bad or giving up on himself early.
