The Minnesota Vikings are emerging as a destination for quarterbacks of New York teams to head to in hopes of resurrecting their careers. Daniel Jones appears to be inspired by the turnaround Sam Darnold achieved in his career with the Vikings and is now set to join him in Minnesota.
The New York Giants quarterback cleared waivers earlier today and is expected to sign with the Minnesota Vikings as reported by Adam Schefter and Jordan Schultz. He is expected to be the backup to Sam Darnold who has solidified his position as the team’s starting quarterback for the rest of this season.
Minnesota signed Jones to have a reliable option at backup. While Darnold has played well and continues to stay healthy, he gave fans a scare as he left the game briefly in the team’s Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears. Presently, the team’s QB room comprises Sam Darnold, Nick Mullens, Brett Rypien, and J.J. McCarthy. However, McCarthy who was expected to be the second option sustained a season-ending right meniscus injury early on.

Minnesota Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell has spoken highly of Daniel Jones in the past
The quarterback will now get an opportunity to learn from one of the best Head Coaches in the NFL, Kevin O’Connell who can help him turn his career around. He has vouched for Daniel Jones and appreciated him a few days ago saying, “I’ve been a fan of Daniel’s for a long time.” It is good to see that despite his rough exit from New York he was able to find a good team to join immediately.
Daniel Jones was exploring his options with reports suggesting that the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens were interested in signing him. An unnamed franchise was dubbed to consider him a potential starter for their team but the quarterback expressed interest in joining Minnesota.
After a rough start to the season with the Giants where Jones threw for 2,070 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions while leading the franchise to a 2-9 record, he was benched. Jones requested the team to release him shortly after. Now part of a competitive team and a lively fan base, Jones steps into a Vikings roster that has consistently delivered thrilling moments. As iGamingNuts reflects, the excitement of witnessing a live Vikings game is a unique experience that adds to the appeal of being in Minnesota.
