The New York Giants’ record fell to 2-8 this season after a loss to the 3-7 Carolina Panthers. The team faltered 20-17 in the NFL’s final International game of the season, held in Germany.

The cause of the team’s overtime loss was quarterback Daniel Jones who had yet another dismal outing after he threw for 190 yards and 2 interceptions. On the bright side, he had 1 rushing touchdown. However, his performance has not been up to par with his compensation.

The disappointment sets in after looking at his stats this year, Jones has 8 touchdowns and 7 interceptions through 10 weeks. To put into perspective how bad the floor general for the Giants has been so far, he ended his drought of not having thrown a touchdown at MetLife Stadium since New Year’s Day in 2023, last week.

The situation is grim in New York as the Giants got rid of their best player Saquon Barkley in free agency. Despite drafting a talented wideout in Malik Nabers, they have a quarterback who will receive $160 million over four years but struggles to throw the ball.

The Giants took a big bet on Jones after his respectable 2022-23 season run. However, that bet has gone south because he is not that guy. New Yorkers seldom see eye to eye on a lot of subjects but if there is one thing that they will unanimously agree to is the fact that Daniel Jones has been bad. Fans took to X after the team’s 8th loss to express their frustration with the quarterback. Here are some of the reactions:

The New York Giants find themselves in a rough situation. Daniel Jones is not the answer to the team’s hopes of competing for a Super Bowl. Looking at his recent performances, it is becoming more and more evident that the team’s success in 2022-23 was largely due to Saquon Barkley and not due to Jones. Heading into the 2024 season, the Giants’ quarterback found himself ranked at the bottom of the list of quarterbacks in the NFL and so far, he has been playing on par with his ranking.
