Daniele Rugani joins Cagliari for rest of the season on loan from Juventus

Juventus defender, Daniele Rugani has joined Cagliari on loan for the rest of the season. He spent the first half of the season at French club, Rennes.
In October, Rugani was loaned to Ligue 1 outfit Rennes until the end of the season. But he failed to get opportunities at Rennes and decided to change clubs mid-season.
Cagliari are facing a relegation battle in Serie A
Cagliari have deposited the contract of Daniele Rugani with Serie A, but the player will undergo his medical tests with the Sardinians tomorrow. Rugani was linked with a move back to Italy at the start of the transfer window.
The 26-year-old only played 107 minutes for Rennes due to a thigh injury. His last appearance for the Brittany side came in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Sevilla.

The 26-year-old has appeared 101 times across all competitions for Juventus. During his stay at the club he has won Serie A five times and the Coppa Italia on three occasions. He has made seven appearances for Italy, the last of which came in a friendly against Netherlands in June 2018.
Parma and Bologna were also interested in acquiring his services, but he chose Cagliari. Cagliari will pay €1.2m to Juventus for Rugani’s temporary move to the Sardegna Arena. Rennes will receive €500,000 if Cagliari gain Serie A survival this season.
Cagliari are currently in the bottom pit of the Serie A at 18th position. They have mustered just 15 points from 20 games this season. They trail Torino on goal-difference, who sit a spot just above them at 17th.
