WTA Star Danielle Collins has backed Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek to win 10 or more Grand Slams before retiring. Sabalenka and Swiatek are currently first and second in the WTA rankings and have won four and six Grand Slams in their careers; however, they won just one major title each last season.
Unlike the men’s circuit, where Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are dominating the Grand Slam tournaments, the women’s major tournaments have seen different champions. The last time a player in the women’s circuit won two Grand Slams in a season was in 2024, when Sabalenka won the Australian Open and US Open.
Last year, Madison Keys won the Australian Open, before Coco Gauff triumphed at the French Open. Swiatek claimed the Wimbledon Championships, after which Sabalenka lifted her second US Open title. At the 2026 Australian Open, Elena Rybakina triumphed, beating Swiatek and Sabalenka en route to the title.
The current competitive level in the women’s circuit has made it hard to predict who the next Grand Slam champion will be. Sabalenka, who has reached four of the last five Slam final have managed to win just one in the process, while Swiatek has reached just one final since winning the French Open in 2024.
Swiatek will turn 25 later in May, with Sabalenka turning 28 that same month. Both women have time to add further Grand Slam silverware to their already impressive collections. During a conversation on The Big T podcast, Collins noted that Swiatek and Sabalenka can reach double digits in Grand Slams:
I am banking on both of them. I think both of them have the games to keep winning Grand Slams. I don’t care about Sabalenka’s age at this point; she is going to get wiser, smarter, and gain more experience under her belt, so I think we can definitely count on her reaching double digits in the Slam count. Swiatek, when she is playing her best tennis, and is in a good mental head space, nothing is impossible. So I think that is a no brainer. I think she will get to double digits as well.
Collins has not played a match on tour since crashing out of the first round of the US Open last September. The 32-year-old is currently on a short break from professional tennis and missed the Australian Open. With time on her side, she decided to kickstart her broadcasting career before an expected return to the court.
Iga Swiatek to possibly face Qatar Open defending champion Amanda Anisimova in the semi-finals
Iga Swiatek is the top seed at the Qatar Open after Aryna Sabalenka decided to withdraw. The Qatar Open is the first WTA 1000 tournament of the season, just a week after the Australian Open ended. Other players such as Jessica Pegula, Naomi Osaka, and Marta Kostyuk have followed Sabalenka to withdraw from the tournament.

The event will kick off on February 8 in Doha. Amanda Anisimova is the defending champion of the tournament, and she will be seeking her third WTA 1000 title on tour. However, she’s on the same side of the draw as Swiatek, which means both players are possibly going to face each other in the semi-finals.
However, before that, Swiatek could possibly face Jasmine Paolini in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Meanwhile, Elena Rybakina is the second seed at the tournament and will arrive in Doha on the back of an excellent Australian Open triumph. She will be seeking her second title of the season.
Rybakina is likely to face Mirra Andreeva in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Coco Gauff comes as the fourth seed in Doha. She’s seeking to win her first title since October. She failed to impress at the just-concluded Australian Open, losing to Elina Svitolina in straight sets in the quarter-finals.
