Danielle Collins is quite “picky” when it comes to choosing boyfriends. She has set up high standards and expectations for her partners, which have become one of the talking points of the tennis community in recent weeks.

On a dating platform, Collins wrote she is aspiring to be a traditional wife, “raise chickens, do home projects, make freshly sourdough, be a stay at home dog mom“. On top of that, Collins wants her boyfriend to be pretty wealthy and tall.

A few days ago, former ATP player Sam Querrey revealed that the Nothing Major podcast would be doing a segment on Collins and help her find “good quality men. Collins has now finally sat for the podcast, where she discussed what she wants in a partner, admitting that she indeed is picky.

I’m looking for something very specific. So, some of my friends are like, ‘You’ve got to be a little less picky, ‘ but I’m like, ‘I want somebody who makes my life better.’ I have a great life, so the only way this will work is that having that person has to enhance my life. If that’s not the case, then I don’t really need it.

The non-negotiable thing about her partner is that he must be a religious and spiritual person as well as ambitious, so that she gets her “me time”. Collins also revealed that she has found one such partner and has gone on several dates with him. Her boyfriend works in finance and started his own company.

It has to be someone who’s devoted to their faith, for sure, and spiritual. That’s a total non-negotiable for me, and someone that’s hard-working and ambitious who has their own thing going on, so that they can have their own success and something they’re passionate about and focused on, so that their world doesn’t revolve around me, because I like having my me-time and being independent in my own way.

Collins also wonders whether her partner would be able to handle her “strong personality”, admitting she is a bit of a “diva”. The 31-year-old also thinks successful men have infinite options when it comes to dating, but for successful women, “the dating pool narrows. Men can be intimidated by successful women“.

Why Danielle Collins is keen on going on dates to find a proper romantic partner

Danielle Collins, during the Nothing Major podcast, joked that her demanding certain qualities in a boyfriend felt like she was living in the 1970s or 80s when women used to put ads in the newspapers when they were looking for a husband. She also revealed the reason behind her present approach to finding a romantic partner.

I’ve actually never like…this is the first time in my life that I’ve actually like ever really gone on like dates and dated. I feel like every other situation I’ve been in, it’s kind of like, yeah, like I meet…have met somebody and hit it off and then, like, pretty quickly got into a serious relationship. So, it’s been like a little bit of like an interesting learning like curve too, like learning about how people like that in today’s world.
