American sensation Danielle Collins continues her brilliant form as she nears the end of her career. Having announced her decision to quit after this year, the American is giving it her all to finish her career on a high.

She has a well-earned reputation for being one of the most honest people on tour and continued to keep that up in a recent interview on the Tennis Channel. After her first-round win at the French Open, Collins provided a rational explanation for participating in a WTA 500 event ahead of the French Open.

The best preparations are matches. It was nice that they had a 500-level tournament before a slam. And I got some great matches in. I just kind of felt like that was going to be the best practice for me. Yeah so it was like a no-brainer. I was like all right, I thought about not going for a second. Then I was like, 'Ehhh you’re going to get bored.'

I got to say too. I have to keep it real here. I got bills to pay Alright? I got bills to pay. And in practice weeks, you are not making any money. Tournament weeks, you’re bringing in the checks.
Danielle Collins added

She had played in Strasbourg before the French Open, meaning the American would miss her practice sessions ahead of the Slam. Nonetheless, she got some great matches in and even went to the finals before losing to Madison Keys

Moreover, Collins continued that form at the French Open and dominated her first-round match against Caroline Dolehide. The two countrywomen had played each other many times, but this time, Collins was better and beat the latter 6-3, 6-4.

She will now play Olga Daonilovic in the second round. As one of the two Americans in the Top 10, she hopes to maintain her position and continue the purple patch of form.
