Tennis fans received a good dose of laughter from none other than Daniil Medvedev, who has a talent for pulling off hilarious antics even during serious times. This time though, it wasn’t on the court or during a press conference.
He dressed up like John McEnroe during his Wimbledon campaign for Pepperstone’s advertisement and the video of his imitation of the seven-time Grand Slam champion has been doing rounds on social media. In the video, Medvedev wore a wig and tied it with a red band.
McEnroe, who now works as a commentator, turned himself into his old self by wearing a wig. The video starts with Medvedev practicing some shots when McEnroe tells him, “You’re doing all wrong.”
But Medvedev reminded the American that he is one of the best tennis players in the world. In response, the 65-year-old said, “Exactly. One…of the best. But I have got an idea to make you No.1.”
Then in the frame came Medvedev dressed up like the ‘old’ McEnroe wearing the wig. When McEnroe asked the Russian what he thought about his new look, Medvedev’s response was, “I feel…ridiculous.” McEnroe asked him, “What do you mean?” Then Medvedev tried to practice again before saying, “I’m out.”

Medvedev has reached the third round of Wimbledon but his match against Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff on Friday was suspended due to rain. Medvedev is leading the match with scores of 6-1, 6-3, 4-6, 1-1. Before taking on the German, the fifth seed knocked out America’s Aleksandar Kovacevic and France’s Alexandre Muller.
Daniil Medvedev sits down after thinking the first set is over
A hilarious moment during the second round match on the Centre Court between Daniil Medvedev and Alexandre Muller caught the attention of the tennis fans. Medvedev was angry during the tie-break of the first set as Muller was giving him a tough competition.
The Russian thought Muller had won the tie-break and so, without realizing the set was not over, he stormed off toward his seat and picked up the towel while having an argument with his team who was telling him about his mistake. The 28-year-old finally realized his mistake and came back to his position on the court to continue the tie-break.

Medvedev lost that set but won the rest of the sets to advance to the next round. His best performance at Wimbledon was in 2023 when he reached the semifinals.
